What this service is — and is not.
Family Clarity is designed for self-reflection and structured conversation. Understanding what the service does and does not do is essential to using it appropriately.
The inherent limits of this approach.
Family Clarity reports are generated from responses to a standardised questionnaire. Users should understand the following limitations before relying on any findings:
- Self-report basis: All scores are derived from how each partner describes their experience. The accuracy of the report depends on the accuracy and candour of responses. We cannot independently verify any input.
- Point-in-time snapshot: The report reflects how both partners experienced their situation at the moment of completion. Circumstances change. A report completed during a period of acute stress will reflect that stress.
- No clinical validation: The Family Clarity framework is a proprietary structural model. It has not been clinically validated in the same way that psychological instruments are. Scores are directional indicators, not clinically reliable measurements.
- Not a complete picture: Five pillars represent a structural view — they do not capture the full complexity of any relationship. Structural clarity is one factor among many.
Directional, not definitive: A high score does not mean a relationship is healthy; a low score does not mean it is in trouble. Scores describe structural patterns in coordination — nothing more, nothing less. Use them as a starting point for conversation, not as a verdict.
When this service is not appropriate.
Family Clarity is designed for couples who are both willing and able to participate independently. There are circumstances in which this automated tool is not suitable and where professional support is strongly recommended instead.
Do not use Family Clarity as your primary resource if your situation involves any of the following: domestic abuse, coercive control, or intimate partner violence; threats to personal safety; self-harm or suicidal ideation; a mental health crisis affecting either partner; child safety concerns; or any situation requiring immediate intervention. Please contact a professional service or emergency support. In Australia: 1800RESPECT — 1800 737 732 (24/7). In the US: National DV Hotline — 1-800-799-7233. In the UK: National Domestic Abuse Helpline — 0808 2000 247. Emergency services: 000 (AU) · 911 (US) · 999 (UK).
- Either partner is participating under pressure or coercion — responses must be voluntary and independent to produce meaningful results.
- Your relationship is in acute crisis requiring immediate de-escalation — this tool is not designed for crisis response.
- Either partner is experiencing a significant mental health episode — the report is not designed to be read in that context.
- You are seeking material for use in legal proceedings, including family law matters — this report is not suitable for that purpose and should not be presented as evidence.
